We are excited to announce the launch of the BLAC Fund, a transformative fund designed to support and uplift Black-led reproductive wellbeing organizations across Nebraska.
The BLAC Fund is an opportunity for those closest to reproductive wellbeing work to meaningfully invest in and build capacity for organizations actively making an impact in this space. The fund will regrant $1M to Black-led reproductive wellbeing organizations in Nebraska to strengthen organizations and improve outcomes. This project leverages the framework of I Be Black Girl Gives (IBBGives), our community giving circle that facilitates resource redistribution for programs led by and for Black women, femmes, and girls, transforming the philanthropic landscape in Nebraska.
Black women-led organizations receive some of the least investment and support from philanthropy; according to the Pocket Change report released by the Ms Foundation in 2020, less than 1% of philanthropic giving reaches Black women, femmes, and girls.
“The BLAC Fund is a groundbreaking fund, driving economic justice and supporting Black, women-led organizations and projects to lead, invest, and thrive on their own terms,” said Kelli West, Special Projects Manager at I Be Black Girl. “This investment will help strengthen their work, ensure their voices are heard, and empower communities to take control of their reproductive futures.”
Applications will be open from January 27, 2025, through February 23, 2025.
Organizations interested in applying for The BLAC Fund can find more information and access the application portal starting January 27th on our website (https://www.ibeblackgirl.com/blac-fund/)
