Women in maternity care deserts can travel up to 3.3X farther than those with full access to maternity care services.
Hospitals that predominantly serve Black people in Nebraska have higher rates of maternal complications and poor pregnancy outcomes.
The highest rates of severe maternal morbidity and maternal mortality in Nebraska, occur among Black women & residents of zip-codes with the lowest median household income.
The rate of preterm birth in Nebraska is highest for Black infants.
In Douglas County, NE, the Black infant mortality rate is almost 3X higher than that of infants of other races.
